Noticed the comment about having your carseat on arrival if you check it. Daughter arrived w/ granddaughter on a flight they forgot to scan her carseat so it stayed in Denver. They did provide them with a brand new carseat. They flew the car seat to MN and delivered it to our home. Bonus they got to keep the new car seat.

Lots of good advice for traveling with Baby. For you wear footwear that slips on and off easily because you have to have them scanned.

I see that you have about a million response's to this post, So I think why bother?? BUT what IF somebody didn't give you the advise I'm about too.. I would feel awful.. so here ya go!

On take off and landing, make sure she has a pacifier in her mouth it will help her ears.. or she could be eating a bottle.. either way the sucking is good.

Your allowed to take a stroller to the gate of the plane and they will put it below, i'm not really sure that's very helpful, having her in a sling may be easier, BUT.. ya never know, maybe it could hold bags. But know you can take it that far if you so wish too. I didn't know that and wished I had.

and lastly the final thing I can think of, bring your own bottled water to maker her bottles. Sometimes the planes don't have nice water, so it's better to be safe than sorry.

I wouldn't know anything about flying with a baby. Uh, if it works like driving 800 miles with a pair of cats, then when you hit her with the sedation pills she won't be knocked out so much as incredibly stoned, which won't prevent her from being super-scared, so she'll spend the entire drive clinging vertically to the seat backs in the cab of the U-Haul, offering garbled meows of panic, and looking all cross-eyed and stuff.

This may or may not apply in your situation?

Really I was just posting to say I hope your Tuesday entailed only minor and momentary suckage. Hoping for an OK day for both you and Madeline.

If you use a sling I have one recommendation.

As a traveler, I can tell you one thing (from taking supplements which is equal to formula powder) ship things unnecessary on arrival, and that can wait until you get to the hotel through FedEx or UPS and pick it up when you arrive there. Do this several days in advance, it it does not cost that much (compared to time wasted and hassle and sometimes penalties).

Wow! A lot of wise advice. I haven't read it all, so sorry if this is repeated. If you are taking her as a lap baby and can find something call mybrestfriend http://www.mybrestfriend.com/ for the plane before you leave I would recommended it. Sure it's a breast feeding pillow, but my girl slept on it when she was little on flights. It freed up my arms to read, drink, and eat. Plus it has a pillow for your back, which I thought was really nice on the plane. I carried her in a baby hawk mei tai carrier in the airport. It really helped with getting on and off the plane. Good luck with the trip and happy 11 weeks to Madeline! Seems like my girl was that age just yesterday.
