I've been reading your blog but have never commented. But I wanted to today to let you know that trying to catch those first smiles, thats hard. It took me many different photos to catch my daughters first smiles. And even today at almost two years old I still have to be quick with my camera, and she's a ham and loves the camera!

Just wanted to also say you're doing a great job with Madeline. She's going to grow up very well. And about the cuss words, who gives a rats ass. I have an almost two year old with another on the way and I have the mouth of a sailor. Thankfully my daughter hasn't picked up any of it. But hey thats just who I am! ;) Can't help who you are! :)

Matt, I've been lurking on your blog for awhile now and only chose to comment on this post because I wanted to say thanks for posting a link to that exciting Mats video. :P I also wanted to wish you a Happy Father's Day -- it's still Sunday in CA so I'm not too late with that. Madeline is adorable and you are doing a fabulous job with her. I know Liz would be really proud of you.

Though new at fatherhood, you're surely not new at giving love. That is evident in every post you've written about Liz. If you love Madeline near as much as you loved your wife she'll be blessed. Happy Father's Day Matt.

As with most blogs, I stumbled upon your site yesterday and spent approx. 2.5 hours learning all about you, Liz, and, of course, Madeline. To begin with, Liz was absolutely beautiful, and if her insides were as beautiful as her outsides, she was an amazing woman.

My husband and children and I were driving to go see Kung Fu Panda yesterday right after I found this site. I was telling my husband the story, about what happened, and found myself crying. There I was, in our minivan, crying over a stranger whom I'd never met. It made me look at my husband and wonder how he would fare if the same situation happened to him. While I know that he'd do amazingly well, I got mad. I got mad thinking of how I'd be so mad that I would miss everything. How I would miss watching my children grow and change. How I would miss helping to raise them and turn them into amazing people.

Madeline is lucky, however. She has a father and tons of relatives and friends who can tell her all about her mother. You, however, are the one who got the shit end of the deal. You got thrown into a situation that no one should ever have to be thrown into. From what I can read, however, you've taken a horrible situation and are making the best of it.

Please sleep Matt, for only then can Liz come to you, in that quiet time between dreaming and wakefulness, and tell you how much she wishes she could be there with you, and how beautiful she thinks her daughter is becoming.

I'm old enough to be your momma, Matt. I'm amazed that anyone is bothered by your use of 'fuck'. I mean seriously. It's a word. IF anyone has a right to say it loudly and often it would be you.

I hope your first Father's Day with Madeline is fantastic. You don't have to be a woman to be a wonderful 'momma'. I'm sure Liz would be really proud of you.

I hope the job stuff works out quickly and well.
