we’re in this together

aj here…

political robots? well, it seems things have gotten a little out of hand with the republican and obama t-shirts. (i know, i know, i started it by creating them in the first place! :-) ) no, i don’t think that all republicans are evil… nor do i think that obama supporters are mindless automatons. those t-shirts were really meant to be a joke, an inside joke amongst god knows how many people read this site, but an inside joke nonetheless.

i think the more important thing here is the idea that we’re all in this together. i think the fact that thousands of strangers have come together to support matt and madeline in different ways, organizing donations, creating memorials, and even buying t-shirts, shows that in the end, we all realize that we can’t do this on our own. we need each other. in the end, we want to help each other out when things get bad.

so, the last of the t-shirts in the “political” category have been created. we’re in this together. is this political? i’m not sure. if our government is a reflection of ourselves, then maybe so. i suppose this worldview might lead you to one political party more than the other… so be it. but the truth is that we can’t do this alone, and I’m very thankful that all of you have supported matt in your different ways, because none of the people who are supporting him could have done it alone and i know i can’t help matt and madeline alone.

anyway, more designs are up for the LGLM5k, and since a lot of have asked about the proceeds from the t-shirts… the proceeds from the shirts go on to support matt and madeline. and in addition, matt is also working on a few other venues for how he’ll pay this all forward to other people in need. i’m not at liberty to say more than that :-)

Any chance there will be kids shirts with the GOA logos? I would love to outfit the fam and I’ve got them all sizes — from 3T to XXL adults.

    @K8 in the N – agreed!!!

AJ – you are awesome. But can I make one little itty bitty request? “I am a flower..” shirt in pink, but without the 5k logo. (The one that is just plain doesn’t come in pink currently.)

Great job with the shirts, it’s such a great way to support Matt and Madeline. Any chance there will be some stranger/friends in more colors than black?

I also love “We’re in this together”, both the sentiment and the shirts!

If you’re a Republican, own it. If you’re a Democrat, own it. If you own who/what you are, you don’t give a rat’s butt what anyone says about it. Opinions are like what? :-)

Rock on with your bad self, AJ. Love the Tee’s. Just need to decide which one to buy…

    Asalamalaykom,

One of my favorite phrases is, “No fighting in the lifeboat.”

While I routinely drill my kid on who needs to be the next president, I don’t want this blog (or the shirts) to go too political. Or, if you do want to get some political messages on the shirts, then perhaps offer the same message for each canidate.

But hating robots? Nawww…we all love the robot (some a little too much).

Thanks, AJ, for reminding everyone how we’re in this [lifeboat] together.

Kudos to AJ for being a rockin’ friend and creating the T-shirts.
@Yosra-agreed -we’re in this lifeboat together and we all NEED each other, no matter our political party (Republican here, and I love the jabs at my party. It keeps it real). Let’s remember why we are all here… because Matt allows us to be here to get a peep into his world. We’re here for M&M.
@ all the creepy broads- you are an awe-inspiring group of people that remind me of how amazing our world can be in spite of all that brings us to this blog in the first place.

i dunno—honest A.J (and Matt).. I don’t think you should worry too much about stepping on the toes of anyone for a political belief..
this is a blog- a journal really.. it isn’t supposed to be objective- or un-biased on any level..

this (hopefully) is a space for Matt to express his views- it isn’t a public service.

You will never be able to make enough shirts to represent evey belief of every reader.. the ones representing Matt and his crew are peachy keen.

The thing that irritates me HW, AJ, and ML. Is that the most offended persons seem to throw in your face that they “donated”.

Are you for real? You wouldnt have if you had known that Matt & Co. thinks the Republican party is a joke? Does that make them less of people that needed the outreach and the extended creepy family?

If you are offended then so be it. Jeebus, AJ has taken stuff off the list. Are we not allowed to say the word lipstick now?

Ahhh geez, now I heart AJ too – for creating the new shirt and explaining…but I loathe the fact that you or Matt felt you needed to.

To all of us, the ones who are in this together: Keep on rockin’…. and don’t hate us sweet liberals while you’re doing it.

    Very awesome.

Hey, don’t know where to put this, but I would love it if you had some toddler sized stuff. I want a robot tee for my favorite little toddler girl. Also, kiddo stuff that isn’t white, cause once they hit solid food, white is so not a good idea. We’re going to try to make the 5K, just depends on my work schedule.

I’m not sure anyone can say it any better than hawkfeather did – I wholeheartedly agree – GO hawkfeather!! We’ve missed you!

It’s Matt’s blog – he can say and do – whatever the fuck he wants. Tshirts and all. My husband doesn’t think men should wear pink shirts – so he doesn’t. He wouldn’t stop reading this blog because there are pink shirts for sale, nor does he stop being friends with guys who DO wear pink shirts. He makes FUN of his friends who wear pink shirts – but fuck – they are all in this together too –
I have lots more I want to say – but I’d better not.

Ok, just to throw out another one….

AJ is the pepperoni on my pizza. Really, thanks for posting that. I may not “know” Matt, but I’m pretty certain that he is not about intentionally offending people…

Now, you may find this hard to beleive, but sometimes I make comments that offend people…(we call them “cricket moments”..you make a comment and the room goes dead quiet…the only sound is crickets chirping…). But I never say stuff to be mean, its just my observations, and I’m just as likely to make “offensive” comments about myself. I’m pretty sure Matt is the same way about this…I think that humor is one of his ways of coping with the shit sandwich he has been served…

So, people, lighten up…the world is serious enough. And if there is anything more absurd and joke-worthy than politics, well…I haven’t found it.
BTW, I love Yosra’s “no fighting in the lifeboat”…so, so true….
