i woke up before my
baby and tried to

i checked my wallet

for madeline.
every week it feels
like she was born just
hours before.
but i hold her and
she no longer
fits in the space between
my palm and my elbow,
so it has to be
that she was born months,
not hours ago.
doesn’t seem possible.
none of this does.
had an early appointment
with a new friend
this morning.
madeline was on her
best behavior as
