We need him to win. As a Canadian living in New England, I wait impatiently to see what my American neighbors will choose for me. I have gotten into lively rows with my fellow Graduate students, I have worn my Obama button every day ( even on Friday night as I distributed candy to little ghouls dressed as Caribou Barbie). I have read every article, pressed my point, encouraged people to choose, explained that socialized healthcare does not lead to communism. I even made it my personal mission to convince my registered Democrat neighbor who claimed to be undecided to go with me to a rally in Manchester, New Hampshire last night where we waited in the cold for an hour and a half while the fire marshal and the secret service decided that we could be the LAST TWO allowed inside, and as I turned to him with zeal in my eyes as my hand left the soft grip of BILL CLINTON himself, he said “YOU have my vote!!!!!”. I have redeemed my Canadian Citizen, non-voting status with a convert and have equalized the Karma of the Universe. I wish Toot could have seen it and I am ready, more than ready to watch their faces as he wins.

Connor, Paul and I are voting as a family when he gets home today. It’s Connor’s first election. He’s wearing blue today in support of Obama.

No on 8! No on 7 and 10, too. They are deeply flawed and are not a solution to our environmental problems.

OK, enough politics, Happy Election Day everyone. Regardless of your views, please go vote today. It is the most important thing you can do as a citizen. Please remember the billions worldwide who do not have the right that we take for granted. You CAN make a difference. Look at what we have done through the power of Matt’s blog.

Go Obama! The husband and I both voted today here in Iowa and we’re watching anxiously.

Wouldn’t it rock if Obama took Alabama? Can’t imagine how amazing that would be.

Maddy is so adorable, if the economy were better I maybe could’ve afforded four t-shirts for my kids. Tee hee.

Right on, Maddie!!! My vote has been cast, and now I nervously await the results, with no surprise that my home state went red AGAIN…I was really hoping, I really was….the 40 year curse has not been broken!

And I think I may be more nervous awaiting the Prop 8 results…..NO on 8!!!!!!! I have too many good friends out in the CA who are entitled to their basic civil rights that are the foundation of this great, but somewhat f-ed up country that I call home : )

I have been a lurker for so long. And I know you won’t be surprised to know I have shed a few tears while reading your blog. And I have brought you and Liz and Madeline up in so many conversations.

But I want to say that I have loved watching Madeline grow through your words, experiences and pictures and I think you are an extraordinary person (and I know there are a lot of them out there that pick up pieces like you are doing as well.)

Madeline wearing the Obama shirt was just awesome (and that girl has balance on that couch!) and I think for her sake and the younger generation in general, they have a potentially great future to look forward to. You and Madeline have already been spreading cheer, inspiration and help to so many and I think we are all lucky to have things going in a different direction politically than they were.

I will continue to check in with you guys and feel free to get in touch with me at anytime if there’s anything you ever need. Give Madeline a HUGE hug.
