Beautiful girl! I must say she looks a lot like Daddy in these pictures! I picked up a new baby yesterday from a very large hospital nicu in l.a. and she had a very nice knit hat made by a volunteer. Goes to say the “my stuff bags” and donations to needy children are appreciated. Thanks to everyone for their support.

I love how she absentmindedly plays with the rolly-rattle thing while watching the camera. I assume you are not present and she is reacting to the camera pointed at her. Precious baby! Love following your blog!

It is so challenging to hurry up and get in the shower–and wash your parts fast enough before your babe starts to fuss!!! The time change is really killing me!
I love those seats! They are lifesavers!

Maddie has the funniest looks…I love how she continues to move the noisemaker thing as she looks off to the side…as if she’s calculating how she can get outta there before daddy catches her! And then she gives the camera a sly grin…awwww

You know, this is my first comment, though I’ve been reading now for a few weeks.

I have to ask… is it ever odd to you that so many people around the world love you and your daughter and your story so much? I don’t know you or Maddy and I never knew Liz, but I find myself wanting to be a friend of yours, reading your stories.

You, sir, seem like a genuinely good person and Maddy is lucky to have you as a father. I will probably not comment again (I’m a little shy, and the only reason I’m coming out of my shell tonight is the wine I had earlier) but I wanted to take a moment to let you know that. I, a stranger, admire you for being such a genuinely wonderful person when you could have so easily become a bitter, angry one.

  50. Posted 11/20/2008 at 11:51 pm | Permalink

I bought that same jumperoo on my visit to CA this summer, Sam thought it was the best thing in the world. It kept him entertained while we spent the days outside with the other kiddos, now he doesn’t want to go in it anymore as he is crusing everywhere. So enjoy it why you can. :) lol

She is so stinkin’ cute, i love it!!

  51. Posted 11/20/2008 at 11:54 pm | Permalink

She has grown so much, I love the flicking of the rolley thing without even looking at it.

Sorry about your eye, but it looks like it healed quickly. My youngest caught mine with his little fingernail when he was around Maddy’s age and wow did it smart. Mine took awhile to heal though so I rocked the pirate look for awhile.

My daughter loved that bouncer when she used it at a friends house. Wait until she’s really jumping up and down! Had no idea that it helped with bowel movements (sorry to bring that up but never thought I’d be so happy when my children had BM’s if they were having trouble in that dept :-) ). My friends used to sing to their daughter…”jump-a-Roo-for-a-Poo!” and repeat it over and over..

Just checked out Arthur Russell. I recall that you liked Ryan Adams (Heartbreaker), there is a melancholy tone to the songs you picked. A certain quality to the music, simple in presentation, clear lyrics, guitar strumming. I’m no music critic, but is there a sort of pattern here? Anyhow, would I be totally out of line to suggest some happy songs? Maybe “Rag Mop” by The Ames Brothers. It’s been going through my head today. Josephine (7 months yesterday!) also likes The Candy Man by Sammy Davis Jr. Oldies but still good.
    PeaceOut, e & j
