Awesome awesome picture!
Oh wow…what a great pic.
oooof, my heart. great photo.
what a gift.
Wow.
Thanks for sharing.
Nice one, and a special one to rediscover.
I love reflection shots generally too.
The way Liz’s hand is on your back as she waits for you to work your talent at the camera, Matt, you never have to wonder whether she loved you as much as you clearly love her. She did.
What a great Christmas gift! I love how she is gently touching your side.
Asalamu Alaykom Mr. Matt and His Reflection,
I’m remembering, “The Red Balloon,” when the little boy meets a little girl and they stand there together among the frames.
What an awesome picture.
What a tremendous picture. I love it, too!
her hand on your back… i do believe she liked you, Matt.
what a great & wonderful discovery. a gift indeed.
Not only is this a new favorite of yours I am sure Maddie will also treasure it.
Amazing picture… First time commenting, but been reading for awhile… My 23 month old son things that Maddy is quite cute. Looked at her picture and said “pitty”… Which in his language, means pretty.
That is pretty cool.
*punch to the gut*
I so wish this was a dream that you could wake from Matt.
Its a great picture.
SWEET picture!!!
true love is seen in your reflections. amazing pic! what a gift to get during these times! have a great sunday! xo
Incredible!!
I am so glad you found it! It is a great picture!
Take care,
Debbie
Matt, that is such a beautiful picture. It’s amazing how things get tucked way back in our brains, covered up with other crap, and then, out of the blue, they’re rediscovered. So cool.
That’s pretty effing rad.
What a precious gift you’ve been given Matt. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful miracle Maddy.
that is beautiful.
As I big punch in the gut these can be, how sad would it be if you didn’t have them?
You are luckier than some believe it or not
, a friend I know has very few, other than wedding photos and a couple of drunk backyard BBQ’s at friends houses, of her and her husband. She longs for things like that sometimes.
Hope you are having a good week, and phew last week!
Wow, awesome photo. I love finding old photos.
a beautiful find and something to treasure.
lovely.
awesome! Hope you and Madeline had a great Turkey day and I really really wish yall a Merry Christmas filled with love.
Reflection is what brings us to the present. Beautiful picture Matt. Never forget, but the future is what keeps us going. Have a great week.
I love this one.
Been reading your blog for a long time. Madeline is such a beautiful baby. Merry Christmas to you both.
It’s a great shot – I’m so glad it found you.
What an amazing photo. There is such tenderness in the way Liz is reaching out to touch you – though it might be hard to see that while the universe punches you in the face.
Thinking of you and Liz’s friends and family. It must be a huge struggle to cope with the holidays this year, but instead manage to live as joyfully as possible. What an awesome, awesome thing.
I think somehow that was Liz’s way of saying she’s still by your side, even when you don’t feel her.
Sending love your way this season!
Very cool.
I think some would refer to this one as a “framer”.
Stunning.
Beautiful!
Breath taking…
How lovely. She is so beautiful!
You are so lucky to not only have these pictures but to have people who help you find them! What a wonderful memory. I agree with many of the above comments, the two people in the picture purely love each other! Happy Holidays Matt. Liz has never truly gone anywhere, she is with you and Miss Maddie everyday.
Love love love the picture! It is awesome that you guys got to travel so much together, how special!
truly a gift to find it
That is a great picture
That is nice surprise…and such a great picture…
Wow! What a great pic!!!!
What an awesome pic! It captures two of your great loves – photography and Liz. Amazing how one photo can speak volumes.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I love when you can discover photos like this that you never knew were out there. I found an old compact flash card with photos of my dog that I just lost a few weeks ago and cried when I found them. Very touching to have this gift you received from your friend.
WOW! My daughter, Lily is the same age as Madeline and I see so much of Lily in her! You are an INCREDIBLE father! I know Liz is watching and so proud!! Hugs!
Crazy how shit like that happens. Seeing photos you don’t think you ever had before. This still happens when I look through my wedding proof album of about 1000 pics.
Sweet treasures.
1st time commenter here too — glad you could re-discover this gem. Im sure there are many more out there waiting.
First thing I noticed was her hand on your back. What a sweet, sweet pose.
Maddy will love this one someday.
Gorgeous shot and so glad you found it (or it found you..)
awesome picture!!!! kudos to courtney c.
Hi Matt, thanks for sharing your blog and your life.
Your writing and photos are fantastic.
And of course, so is Madeline. You are quite talented!
Liz may not be here, but she is definitely always ‘with you’ and Madeline. And I’m sure Liz will continue to find a way to send you and Madeline little messages and signals, even when you least expect it; just like the photo.
HOLA Matt,
What a beautiful find to ‘treasure’!
You definitely make a nice couple.
Hope you are doing good.
I was a little bit silence these past few weeks but I’m back.
Take the opportunity to THANK YOU SO MUCH to GIVE ME A CHANCE to know so UNBELIEVABLE G.R.E.A.T. people!… We spent a really nice afternoon here in Buenos Aires.
Besos y abrazos to Maddy (she is gorgeous and SO big!)
Sol
Love this picture. This is something you can show Maddy one day. the long you guys show in this picture is so sweet.
every photo of you two just emanates the love you share. that’s true fucking love.
I just looked thru a bunch of your flicker pictures. Mostly the ones of Liz. She is absolutely georgeous! (My favorites are the fishing pictures) I do not think I seen one picture where she was not happy to see you and your camera. And after looking at your daughter’s pictures, I would have to say the same!
Happy Holidays!
It’s all pretty much been said already, but I have to add:
Wow.
Wow what an incredible picture! Looks like that mustached guy is looking at you two… so many things going on there.
Thanks for sharing, a gem indeed.
Everyone’s already said what a great picture it is so I’ll skip that.
I bet it’s weird to stumble on a picture like that that you didn’t see before, or remember. Kind of like a bittersweet surprise!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of Liz. She is beautiful! Exactly what Madeline will look like when she’s older…do you see it?
I like the guy in the poster in the bottom mirror. He’s totally wondering how you nabbed such a babe.
That is a great photo!
such a beautiful reflection….
g.
Very cool pic
I love this picture. We miss you guys! Is it Xmas yet? I want to snuggle Maddie!
What a memory.
Love the pic. What a joy to find it. I especially like the mustached (not sure if that’s even an adjective) fellow peering at you from below in the bottom mirror.
Thinking of you much. Sending peace and light, Nena and Reese
Beautiful pictures… so sad for you.
That’s a great picture….
First time to make a comment. I don’t even remember how i found your blog, but i love reading all the updates. i think madeline is a lucky girl with a very cool dad and an even cooler robot!
there went my heart in my chest!
This is awesome!
that. made. me. smile. through. tears.
I have been reviewing your site since it crashed earlier, and it is so very inspiring. Through pictures, Liz seems like she was such a gentle, caring person. You must have loved her so, which can be seen in all the pictures you took of her (Madeline is so lucky to have those treasures of her mother, as are you!). You have been so blessed with the opportunities to visit other countries – I hope to one day do the same. Though 12 years seems so short now that it’s over, your pictures show a lifetime. You are blessed.
