I can see you! Your baby brother looks just like you. You have a very nice face! I like the beard, but guys that look that young in High School ALWAYS turn out hot. Liz was a very smart woman! (also see a lot more of you in Maddy now)

Totally got a giggle out of the hair and pants though. But then again, I graduated in 1987 so you would probably laugh your ass off with my pics. Platinum blonde hair ala Madonna and lace fingerless gloves!

    Strike a pose!

I like you with your beard…….love the prom picture. So adorable. Liz was gorgeous as always and you both look so happy in all your pics together. She would be so proud of you and Madeline and all that you have done these past months to make things less shitty for other people. Sending sparkly thoughts your way this holiday season and may you continue to find magic moments around every corner.

It must be the beard. My husband had a beard for the first 4 years we were together and one day shaved it and he looked like a total stranger, I had never seen his face before, lol!

Ahh, Prom pics. You both look so wonderful and I love the expression on your face! My prom (’99) pictures were pretty similar, as my date was quite a bit taller then me too. Madeline is going to love seeing these pictures and getting to know the history of her parents. She might also make fun of you in the prom picture… no beard and all, but don’t worry it will all be out of love!!

Now about the beard…when my dad passed away, we were looking through old photos of him, and we came across a few when he had shaved his off his beard for a bet.

    Asalamu Alaykom,

I saw the pics. I read the comments. Now, I think I have the perfect descriptive word. Really, it’s a mix of the comments:

    AdorkABLE!

:) And I didn’t laugh! Honest! But I smiled sweetly at a couple who were each others’ naseeb.

Naseeb is an Arabic word for fate. If you have naseeb with another, you simply WILL be with that person. It doesn’t matter how your hair looks, for instance, as the other person will see someone amazing.

I think that Your Liz’s love for her naseeb not only helped him to grow facial hair, but to grow-up, and to grow into manhood. Subhanallah, you are so manly in the 2nd and 3rd photos! She complimented you with all that gorgeous feminity and you improved through the years because of it.

Ach. I can’t help myself. I’ve been coming back to that prom photo all day. I’m always fascinated by the way pictures can put our various selves next to each other — like time travel. I just wish they could talk to each other!

So this will probably sound really stupid, but all I can think when looking at those two sweet children’s faces (and that’s what you were, even up until nine months ago) is that if someone had laid it all out for you the night that prom photo was taken and told you two everything that was going to happen between then and now — and gave you the choice to just skip it and try something else — I just feel so sure you’d both have screamed “HELL NO!!!”

Makes me smile, just imagining that. Though I guess I still also wonder just a little if it’s really true. (But if it is, well…there you have it, huh?)
