I actually found out about you from People Magazine! I think you are doing a wonderful job and I wish more men could see what kind of work a woman goes through to raise a child. I so wish Liz could be there with you though! I'm gonna go before I cry

My Sister-In-Law found your blog for me. First and for most your daughter is beautiful and so is your wife. I am feeling awful myself. I just lost my husband on January 6th, 2009 to illness. We have an 18 month old Alek who was born on 07/07/07. You can read more about our story at www.thedupreyfamily.blogspot.com, if you would like. As I know you are very busy. Randy had a research based Stem cell transplant at Duke University from Jan 08-June08, it did not stop the progression of his disease (scleroderma). He was 26 years old and I miss him like crazy. People says it gets easier, but the more time that goes by the more I miss him. Thanks for sharing your story it gives me a bit of hope......

a poem for you Matt and sweetie Madeline =)

Of course Maddy,
when i look at you
my world revolves.
it leaves me always,
but i live for you and me.
you instruct me everyday sweetie,
every single moment
is golden.
your touch makes me live
over and over again.
i believe you,
i believe the love in you,
for in you i am now a miracle!
in you i found a new self.
set apart, i will remain
your Matt, you hero everyday. =)

Stay strong Matt. God bless you
and Maddy.

I don't know what it is like to loose a spouse. But this year I lost my elderly mom and 2 weeks later I lost my sister, my bestfriend and my world ended, or so I thought. After reading your story, and the way you had to step up and take it all on yourself, my problems don't seem so world ending after all.
You have a beautiful little girl and I am sure Liz is watching over you (and probably laughing sometimes) and beeming with pride.
You are a remarkable father and I am sure Maddy will grow up
knowing that you have done this wonderful thing and she will have your memories of Liz and she will be very proud of her father. The world needs more people like you.

Matt, you fucking awe me. I found this blog by accident and you and your beautiful Maddy have touched my life in a way that I can't put into words. You may not get back to me I may not post again (but I'll be reading) but know that you, Liz and Madeleine are in my heart and in my prayers.

How could I have missed that?! Not long after I left my last comment I went to the link I missed about one of Liz's favorite songs. I'll never hear that song now without thinking of her and the rest of you, and since I have the CD and the movie that will be plenty.

Like so many others I read about your blog in People magazine. I've spent the last week catching up on your lives since the arrival of Maddy. This blog really reflects your love for your two favorite ladies. You are doing a fantastic job with Maddy -- she's an obviously happy, healthy and well loved baby. Come back to Chicago when it's warmer outside!
