I wrote into People after I read your article in the magazine a few weeks ago. If you look in the blurb in this weeks issue, they posted a partial part of my response to you (Libby from Simi Valley, Ca). Here is the full response I wrote to them:

I randomly stumbled on Matt Logelin’s blog several months ago while I was at work. After only several seconds of reading his entries I was hooked and I spent the next few days reading every single blog entry with my eyes full of tears. You can tell how much he loved and adored his beautiful wife Liz and how he passed his love onto his baby girl, while never forgetting his wife. There is nothing in the world as wonderful as a daddy’s love to his daughter (this I know) and the pictures Matt takes and what he writes about his daughter capture his love for Maddy so well. I just now read the article in People and again my eyes are full of tears. It is so heartwarming to read about what a wonderful and handsome man Matt seems to be and the amount of love he gives his friends, his blog readers and his georgeous baby girl is amazing.

–and now here I sit at work again..my eyes full of tears looking at these pictures of you and Maddy at the beach, and reading what you wrote about your previous trip with Liz. You truly seem like such a wonderful man and I hope you know that. Stay close to your daughter. The love my dad gave me growing up still means the world to me and I promise in the long run Maddy will appreciate it too :)

I just stumbled upon this blog today and I have truly been moved. I have a 9 month old son and he and Madelyn are almost exactly a month apart…I admire your courage and am truly sad for Liz not being able to see Madelyn grow into the adorable little girl that she is now…being a first time mother, I could not imagine not being a part of my son’s life for the past 9 months. Wasn’t sure if I was going to comment and share, but I have just been so moved by you today!

Wow that is great I will have to watch Rachel Ray tomorrow. I tried to get Oprah interested in your story and also the loss of my sister-in-law who also died 4 hours after my niece was born (6-13-2008) but i guess she is not interested SORRY!!! Maybe you would have better luck if you contacted her. Good Luck tomorrow, I am glad you are getting your story out there and the foundation is going to be able to help others that have lost their loved ones. Would love to hear from you since you are in the same situation we are. Please pass our story on if you can. Unfortunately Maddy and Sophia are not the only ones who lost their mothers last year. Right now we know another young mother who had her baby and suffered a blood clot and she has been in a coma for 4 days now.

    HI Matt.
My name is Elizabeth. I have been following your story for quite some time now. I just wanted to write you and tell you how much your story has touched me. My dad died very suddenely in August of 2006 after being given a clean bill of health only 2 weeks earlier. I am the oldest of 6 children, my youngest sister is 15 and still lives at home with my mom. One of the reasons I love your blog and why I feel like I am so drawn to it is you tell it like it is. There is no sugar coating your emotions. My mom and my brothers and sisters have had to deal with alot of comments from friends and especially our family telling us basically how to grieve and that we should be “over” it by now, they specifically tell my mom this. I dont understand how people can tell someone how to do something that they have never had to go through. My mom and dad had the best relationship. My mom stayed home and took care of us and had not worked outside the home in as long as I could remember. My dad did not have alot of insurance and now my mom has had to go back and try and find some work. People dont understand how hard it is to work even though it is only part time, while trying to grieve. You hae a way of telling it like it is and I love that. My mom is really struggling right now, I just wish there was something I could do to help her. Everyone says, we will be okay, or she will come out stronger because of this. Anyways, thanks again for being so honest and that is so totally awesome about Rachel Ray and you promoting Lizs foundation. What a way to honor her. You are such an awesome dad and your love dor Maddy is so evident in the pictures.

I saw you on Racheal Ray today and I cried so hard when i seen what you have been throufh and what you have overcame. I know how it feels to be a single parent. I have a 9 yr. old disabled daughter who does not have a father in my life and all i want is for her to know that daddy she is craving so much. So because of that hurt she and I have had over the years I stayed single and vowed to never date anyone til i thought he was “THE ONE” Well I fell in love in August of 2007 and was pregnant by January. When I was 4 months along in April he left and has never came back or contacted me. Nor has he contacted his other children, but they come see their baby sister alot. So when I see a father that loves his child unconditionally and does anything and everything that they have to do to make that child happy and healthy it makes me liturally cry with joy because it gives me hope that someday i might find someone to love my girls in the same way that you love that little girl. I struggle alot being physically limited myself and having my oldest disabled so my income is extremely low but you know at the end of the day i look at them sleeping and i think to myself you know all these hard times and all these stress patches are worth it just to see a innocent childs face asleep peacefully after being kissed on the forehead and being told that they are loved. So for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
    Sincerely Andrea

Hi there, I watched you on Rachael Ray today and honestly I will tell you that this is the first time that I heard your story. I don’t leave my house much right now, I am on Maternity leave from having my daughter who is now a month old. Her name is Madolene (I call her Maddie), she is named after her great grandmother that died when I was eight, she was a huge inspiration in my life. So your story struck me, first off because I was sitting here in front of my computer as I always do and listen to Racheal Ray in the morning and caught that they called your little girl Maddy. So I sat here, listening intently to your story and I felt your pain. I am a single mother of two children now and trying to make it all on my own. We do alright because of determination and will but sometimes I just like to know that there are people out there doing all on their own too. I will be subscribing to your blogs now and will post comments with any advice this young mother has . . .good luck and you seem like a great father.

When I started following your blog months ago, I could have never imagined that it would turn into all of this. So, I cannot even fathom how strange, amazing, crazy, and unbelievable this must seem to you! Obviously you would give all of this up in a heartbeat, if only… However, congrats on the continued good that you are creating out of such tragedy. You’re a fantastic father. I truly believe that one of the most fundamental relationships exists between a father and his daughter. Even though I have had struggling relationships with many people in my life, the one with my father has always remained stable. Throughout my life he has shown me what true love, affection, and respect is. Therefore I never accept anything less from anyone and never had to look for it elsewhere. What you are doing for your daughter is amazing, and she is truly one of the luckiest girls in the world. I commend you and I hope you enjoy watching an amazingly strong human being grow up, all thanks to your efforts to be someone she can love and respect for the rest of her life. Kudos.

I just watched you on Rachael Ray and alot of your story hit home for me because that is how my own mother died…very unexpectedly and very fast. She was 49. It turns out that this event saved many of our lives, including 3 of 4 daughters, cousins, brothers and sisters. A few events surrounding my mother’s death raised red flags for the doctors and recommendations came from this. We were all tested for Protein C deficiency and I now know (along with many others) that this could someday happen to me. Protein C deficiency is, in other words, a higher clotting factor than others. The reason I am telling you this is because there are many ways to prevent blood clots and furthermore, pulmonary embolism. Please get your daughter checked…it can save her life!

This story hits very close to home for me, my sister in law passed away March 11 2008 from an amniotic embolism only minutes after giving birth to my niece. This is a very hard time for my brother, he is now the raising two little girls Grace is going to be 3 (March 10) and Lucy will be 1 on March 11. You have many good people in your life. Stay strong

Matt, I just want to let you know that I saw your appearance on the Rachael Ray Show today and your story is truly inspiring. You give so much hope to people all over the world who have suffered similar tragedies to you. You also give hope to single parents all over the world who are afraid that they will not be able to survive the challenge of raising a child on their own.
Right now I am studying to be a nurse and I am taking a class called Lifespan Development. Your story really brought the idea of child development alive for us. Not only with everything that happened before Madeline’s birth, but especially with everything that has happened afterwards. Your blog makes it possible for us to watch Madeline grow and mature right before our eyes! Thank you for sharing Madeline’s growth process with us. She is a beautiful child and you are both blessed to have each other.
On a final note, I would just like to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I can’t even imagine how devastating it has been for you to lose such an amazing person as Liz. I hope you know that she is sitting on the most beautiful cloud in Heaven looking down on you and Madeline with love and pride. Keep up the great work Matt – you are an amazing person!!

I cried through the whole thing and because I have been lurking for a while I figured now was the right time to comment! My husband also enjoyed watching today as well as my room mate who was sitting with me while I read your blog the first time..she was handing me tissues! I just cant get enough of Maddy and as the others say, you are doing such a great job!!!

Matt, I think you are a remarkable dad to continue this blog that liz started to allow Madeline to one day really know about her mother, and to know what it was like for you, as her dad, to raise her alone. I lost my dad when I was five. If only my family would have talked to me about my dad, it would have meant so much. I have no doubt that liz is helping you each day.

Hi Matt and Madeline :) I’ve been reading for months but never commented. I just saw you both on Rachel Ray. I am so in awe of you Matt. You are an amazing father. Madeline is so precious. I live over in Staten Island, just a stone throw from Manhattan. It is an amazing place. I hope you enjoy your time here and see the great things around town. I bet Madeline will love the ferris wheel inside the Toys R Us in Time Square if you get the chance. That has always been a favorite of my son. I think you are doing an amazing thing to turn your tragedy into a way to help others. Take care.

Just saw you on Rachel Ray. I know you have heard this a hundred times by now but I can relate. My husband died when my daughter (our only child) was 15 mo old. I had two older boys that were hit hard by his death but my daughter never got the chance to know her father. I remember going thru the days in a fog for such a long time. I wrote in a journal and it helped me greatly so I am sure the blog has done the same for you. The thing I found was my daughter became my anchor in the storm. She and my boys gave me a reason to get up every day. They gave me a reason to smile and to laugh and to feel. I am sure you feel this way many times as well. My daughter is now a 24 year old who just had a baby of her own. He is 7 weeks old and the light of her life and ours. She had lost a son 4 years ago at 26 weeks (he made it 8 days). She went thru the same thing this pregnancy but with bed rest and good doctors we got a precious little boy. Good luck to you. Your daughter will be eternally grateful that you have this site so you can share her mom with her. The one thing my daughter struggled with is the fact we had little of her dad to share with her. Thankfully your wife’s family is staying involved. That is so important for your daughter.

    God bless you both!

Matt!!! I just got done watching you on R. Ray. It continues to amaze me how after reading your blog for the last 10 months, I am still reduced to tears over your story. I wanted to say that you did great, and that Madeline could not have behaved ANY better! She was precious as usual, and really adorable when the audience clapped….it’s probably because she’s so used to being out in public so often around so many people! Anyway, it was so great to see, and I almost felt like I was watching an old friend on TV….I hope this gets lots of publicity for the Liz Logelin Foundation so you can help many, many people in their times of need also.
Madeline is lucky to have you for a dad, Liz was lucky to have you for a husband, and you are lucky to have had Liz and to now have Madeline in your life. You’ve really just done an all around, fantastic job.

RR was the first time I had heard your story. It brought me to tears. Two of my children came up to me and asked what was wrong. I said, ‘that wonderful man there is a daddy and he has to do it all by himself… that isn’t fair.’

I love how you talk about your sweetheart. Our stories are kind of similar… My husband and I are both 30 and high school sweethearts. We just celebrated 13 years together in January. While it didn’t take us 8 years to get married, it took us 6 1/2. :-) We have three sons. The first pregnancy was easy as it can go but the second was much more tramatic. Our twins had TTTS and we almost lost them. I was on bedrest for 10 weeks. It was stressful.

You are so inspirational. Your Liz is so proud of you… I have been so moved today, that the tears will not go away. Your strength for your daughter is amazing and I’m so sorry you and your daughter were cheated out of the life you should have had. If you aren’t a praying person, take heart that I am. Your daughter is so blessed to have such a loving and wonderful father.

I am sure this note will be missed or overlooked because I have no doubt you will have an overwhelming amount of comments. Thank you for sharing your life. It helps everyone put things into perspective. I look forward to keeping up with your blog and watching you share your daughter growing up.

    Matt,
I just watched the show and fell in love with your little Madeline! She is adorable! Your story is so tragic, I couldn’t help but cry through the whole thing. I also couldn’t help but notice how lonely you are and how much you miss your wife. Which is understandable after such an experience. I’m so sorry you had to go through that, but you are doing an awesome job with your daughter! The main reason why I am writing to you is because, like I said, you miss your wife. I will be honest with you, and I won’t discriminate against you if you don’t want to be open to this, but I felt like I had to share this information with you. I am a member of the LDS (mormon) church. One of our beliefs is that we believe that after this life is over, that’s not the end of it. We have the potential to become like God. We also have the blessing of being with our spouses and families not just throughout this lifetime, but forever. It’s probably a really hard concept to grasp if you’ve never heard of it before. But I know how much you miss and love your wife and if you are interested in learning how you can someday see your sweet Liz again and be with her for eternity, please take the time to check out this website (www.mormon.org), it answers questions you have and can set up a visit with our missionaries to also answer questions you have, if you would like. I know this is forward of me, but I would love for you to have the happiness and knowledge that I have of our Father in Heaven’s plan for us. You are an amazing man for dealing with what you have so far. Thank you for taking the time to read this, good luck in raising that beautiful daughter of yours and God Bless.

Also, if you haven’t arranged for a husband for Madeline yet, I think my 18 month-old son may be interested. He was in awe of her, and kept pointing and saying “Baby!”
Lots of hugs to you both!

    Matt,
I saw you on Rachael Ray this morning and I was so moved by your story. I gave birth to my son on the 30th of December after some complications. He was perfectly healthy but I wasn’t so lucky. The doctors went through sereval diagnoses, including pulmonary embolism, before they concluded that it was postpartum cardiomyopathy or postpartum congestive heart failure. I lost about 50% of my heart function but am on my road to recovery. I just wanted to tell you that I think it is amazing what you’re doing for Madeline, keeping her mother’s memory alive and trying to help others along the way. She’s incredibly lucky to have such an amazing father. I so admire you. I wish you and your beautiful daughter all the best.

You never cease to amaze me with your strength and your deisre to help others who are also in need. The way you honor Liz with this new foundation is truly incredible. Maddy will be so, so very proud of you and all that you have accomplished at such a tragic time in your life. You have done and continue to do an amazing job with raising Maddy, she gets more and more beautiful by the post! And seeing her live on RR this morning had me laughing at how she stole the show with her beauty and uber-cuteness!!! I want to thank you for what you have given to so many people, laughs, tears, a new perspective on life and how precious it is as well as the people who are in our lives. This post is far too long so I will end it here. Give Maddy kisses from all of us creeps! xoxo

Live on TV?!? I was caught so off guard. Ummm…that is Matt and Maddy! I “know” them!! I can’t believe it has been almost a year since we found your blog. I remember telling my husband I wanted to send a little stuffed robot to a baby named Madeline I saw on the internet. He thought you would think we were crazy stalkers. That we shouldn’t be peeking into such a private, personal blog. And look what has become of it in a year!! The foundation in Liz’s name. It is amazing what you have created out of such a devastating situation. You’re awesome….

Wow! The first and only that I could mutter as tears poured down my face listening to your story on Rachael Ray today. As a new mother to a 5 month old baby girl diagnosed with CF at birth and having complications during my pregnancy the reality of what could have happened became so apparent hearing your story. Unfortunately, this tragedy did happen to you and I truly admire your strength . Whatever you are doing it must be right because your little Maddy is full of joy and happiness. She is a blessed little girl to have such a devoted father. I thank you for sharing your story during this difficult time and opening the eyes of soooo many people especially mine. I look forward staying close to this story through your blog. Wishing you both the very best!!!

I feel like we are long lost friends…yet, I have never met you. I usually don’t keep up with stories like yours that I read out of People, but you are a fellow Minnesotan and I felt compelled. It is also maybe because I am the mother of 3 and though I don’t know your pain…I have a ‘feeling’ of what it must be like. I watched you guys on the RR show a few minutes ago. I cried…just like I do when I read the blog sometimes. When I first found the blog from People…I spent a whole Sunday from morning to evening reading. I cry for the pain, but mostly I cry because I think that what you are doing is amazing. Madeline is the luckiest girl in the world to have a father like you. From the sounds of it, she’s the luckiest girl because of who her mom is too.
Thank you sooooooo very much for sharing your life with all of us, especially with the people you don’t even know and will probably never ever meet. This blog inspires me to be a better mom. I have become a different person ever since that one Sunday……

“You had better be a damn good baby”. I thought that was the best line of the interview! And look what you got! The best baby. She sure enjoyed herself, I had a feeling you wished you were anywhere but there. But instead of hiding, which I suppose would be way easier for you, you are out there changing the world for people. I am blessed to “know” you, Matt. There are not many people who have lost so much, and have been given so much in the same moment. Dude…the prom pictures…immortalized on national television. Saw some new photos of Liz, too…breathtaking. Hearing you tell the story was heartbreaking. No matter how I hear it or think about it…it always will be. Your strength continues to amaze and inspire.

The reason I decided to comment today, was because while watching you on RR with my 8 month old son, he was staring, “talking” and clapping the whole time. He normally doesn’t pay any attention to the TV, but I think he thinks Maddy is cute!

Hello Matt; After watching you on RR, then reading your bloggs, I just wanted to share a poem with you that I was given at my own baby’s shower. After 6 mos. in the bed, (4 at moms & 2 in the hospital); I delivered a healthy baby boy. Therefore, I can relate to parts of your story. So it goes…

    “Babies are bits of
    stardust
    blown from the
    hand of God.
    Lucky the woman
    who knows the pangs
    of birth
    for she has held

I had to come up with 10 blogs that I thought were worth the Kreativ Blogger award. Well, i’m a silent reader of your blog, stop in often never makes comments. So I wanted to stop in and give this little award (which really.. isn’t that big of a deal when your blog is as BIG as yours is) ha ha! BUT i do enjoy reading your blog and having a small peek into your life with your beautiful daughter. If you read this, would you mind telling me how one goes about starting their own foundation? I want to so badly in honor of my daughter (who hasn’t passed away.. but does live with Juvenile Diabetes) The whole foundation thing sounds so over whelming and you did it. So i’m kinda curiouse how you did.

I am SO ridiculous. So I start watching RR, and I’m welling up in tears anyway watching you talk on the pre-taped portion, and then when it went live and there was Maddy, I literally clapped my hands, said “Hi Maddy!”, waved at her…and burst into tears. LOL Seriously! Like she was MY grandchild and I hadn’t seen forever and couldn’t believe how she’d grown!

This is what you’ve done to me (and probably hundreds of women like me). I feel like I’m part of your family! Thank you for allowing some stranger in Ohio to be part of you and Maddy’s world….

YOU DID GREAT! Of course Maddy just shined like a star on tv. Although you looked a little nervous, you expressed yourself very well (Maddy did as well). Great outfit choice for her. Love the umbrellas.

Hopefully the foundation will benefit from the appearance.

You make all of our days brighter as we watch and read your expressions of frustration, love, anger, hope and so much more. I know that I look at life differently. Things can change in a split second. It’s how we react to the change that makes the difference.

I am watching you right now on Racheal Ray(I dvr’ed it). I just wanted to say that I was raised by my father, my mother chose not to be in the picture. I love my father so much for what he did, and gave up, for me. Maddy will grow up knowing how much you love and want her, and that you would do anything for her. That knowledge will help her in life, esp. with men. I can’t imange what you went through, I am crying as I watch you and Maddy. But I do know that Maddy will feel how much you love and adore her, and your bond will be unbreakable, as mine is with my father. There should be more men like you and my father in this world. Little girls need their daddy, even when they are 25, trust me.

It was so great to see you and Maddy on TV! And wow! Awesome that Pampers will take care of your diapering needs until Maddy doesn’t need them anymore. That’s awesome! We don’t buy Pampers now, but between what they’re doing with UNICEF and what they did for you today, I’m a supporter now! I just know that this will bring so much positive attention to the foundation.
You’re awesome, Matt! Keep doing what you’re doing. You’ve touched so many lives and the people you saw on the show via video and the young women in the audience you were able to meet are proof of how many lives you’re touching just being you.

Thankfully after mistakenly recording Rachel Ray on a channel I don’t get I found it on at a later time. I would have been seriously sad and disappointed to miss you guys. Naturally I cried, smiled and laughed throughout. Madeline is not only as cute, but cuter, on live television. I loved that moment when Maddy threw the bracelet and your reaction, priceless stuff. I know the best thing to come out of your appearance on Rachel Ray will be the support for the incredible foundation you started, and naturally you will have many more strangers friends following your journey.
What can I say, once again you are just an amazing Human Being, Father and Husband to Liz even in her passing. Liz certainly knew what she was doing when she chose you, you truly honor her in every way.

    Matt,
I am one of the thousands of people who visit your website daily and I am as interested & anxious to hear what is going on with you and Madeline, as if you were a member of my own family. Madeline is a beautiful child who appears to be as happy & healthy as she could possibly be because of all the love and care you give her. My very, very best to you & your family always!!!

I caught Rachael Ray by pure chance today and saw this beautiful little girl and her dad. I was touched by the story of your life thus far. I don’t have a child of my own, but do have little ones all around me, help with them when I can. What you are doing with this blog, just being there for Maddy all of that is going to mean so much to her when she is older. For a “slacker” and someone who did not take care of the day to day things … you have certainly turned that around and you should feel proud of that. The lost of someone dear is very difficult – I’ve gone through it too often already – be proud of how you are handling it. Now that I know about you and your daughter I will visit to keep up.

His story is sad, but it was so amazing to hear about the foundation that he has started for families that have gone through a lose as he did. Madeline is such a beautiful little girl, and Matt seems like a great dad that just wants her to always know who her mother is!! I know this is one comment of hundreds, but just saw your clip on the show today. I’m an avid reader of blogs & have been reading yours since the People Mag came out. I think I’ve caught up with all entries & I was glad to see you and Madeline “on tv” and not through pictures. She was beyond adorable on the show, very happy, cute outfit! Just by reading all your entries in a short amount of time, you’ve really grown since March ’08 and you are doing a great job with Madeline. Matt, you continue to amaze and inspire me. Maddy is so beautiful and so lucky to have such a wonderful daddy who has revolved his life around her. Honestly, there are people out there who would crawl into a hole after going through what you have and you rose to the occasion. I probably would be one of them… but you’ve shown me that it is so very important for our kids to keep moving, keep living… I’m positive, even without ever knowing Liz, that she could not be happier or more proud of you. I’m not sure how I actually stumbled upon your blog but yesterday I did and today I finally finished reading all the posts. You have a beautiful daughter that seems like a jem. I just wanted to say how much reading all the posts has moved me and got me thinking about how much joy children can bring into our lives. While I’m only 19 years old, I have experienced some painful deaths of family members. But through it all I always know that the one thing that will always make me smile and cheer me up is when I go the families house I babysit for an spending time with little baby Aidan, watching him grow and change daily. Keep up the good work, I think Maddy is a really lucky girl to have you as her father.

I also watched Rachael Ray for the first time today, and wish that I had remembered tissues. It was so sweet seeing pics of you and Liz, it is amazing how much love you had for her, and the love that you still do. In such a tragic event, you have done a wonderful thing creating the foundation to help others that are in your situation, being able to put aside your pain and reach out to others. I hope very much that this has given the foundation more than needed to help you. There still are things that I wish that could express the sympathy than I have for you and Maddy, but nothing can explain. Sorry if this is upsetting, I just wanted you to know that I pray for you and Maddy and that you are on my mind. And more thanks to you and to Rachael Ray for getting this out! #4 You shed a bright spotlight on Liz’s foundation.

DID SHE GET TO KEEP RACHEL’S BRACELET??? If so you should auction it and give the money to LIZ’s foundation (well if Maddy is not too attached to her new teether) I think it would be fun having an auction of cute things that Maddy has used in some of the pictures from the blog. Hi Matt, I recently learned about your story on Rachael Ray. It touched my heart and soul beyond words. First, I wanted to commend you on being such an amazing father. You should be a role model to all men in this world. But besides being an amazing father, you are an extraordinary person. I was blessed with two girls named Isabel and Emily. They are the apple of my eye. I have an incredible husband who would take the stars out of sky for me. I feel very fortunate. After hearing your story, I realized how precious life is and how not to sweat the small stuff. Life is way short. You and I are the same age, and I feel like you and Liz could have been my friends in high school. After reading your blogs, I feel like I’ve entered a part of your life and you’ve become a part of mine. I’m addicted to your blogs more than facebook…LOL! I just want to tell you that you are doing an amazing job with Maddie. You were put on this earth for her. If you’re ever having a bad day, I would love to listen, and hopefully make it better. I know you have thousands of these messages, and it might be a while before you read this, but I truly commend you. My one great piece of advise is-when all else fails turn to candy.

i came home late tonight, but before i even took off my coat i sat on my couch and turn on my dvr to watch you on rachel ray. i have so many compliments to you on your beautiful and gracious appearance, but mostly i was struck at how happy and content little maddy seems to be. what a blessing it is for you to have such a joyful child in the midst of all you have been through. i am certain it is liz living on through maddy…telling you in her own way that its all going to be ok. thank you again for sharing with us…i hope you are having a good night, and not feeling too overwhelmed by all the feedback i’m sure you’re receiving! god bless.

    Matt,
caught the show thanks to the PVR and you brought tears to my eyes. After reading your blog for the past 8 months, I had a sense that you have a great love for both Liz and Madeline, but seeing you live, you are just as you seem in your blog. Thank you for being real and sharing your journey. you are a fabulous daddy, and maddie is one lucky little girl. I am certain Liz is smiling as she guards over both of you. Blessings…

So I DVR’d the show because I spend my time being a workaholic… I watched it last night and you guys were fabulous. I’ve been following the blog for the last few weeks catching up on the last year of your life- and I have to say that you are the epitome of strength. I finally caught up and you’re just amazing. It’s nice to see that out of something so tragic- strength and love prevail.
Thank you for writing and sharing your sunshine Madeline with the world.

    Matt,
How amazing you are! I know you’ve heard it 100,000 times by now, but you are such a great father. Your daughter is so lucky to have you do this for her, and you’ll be thankful to have the memories at hand whenever you need them. I will donate to your foundation, because what you’ve started from such a tragedy is more of an accomplishment than my life has ever seen.

    Madeline,
You’re beautiful! Keep up the good work of being a handful to your dad and those around you, you seem very good at it!

    Hi Matt and Maddy,

I’ve been reading, crying, and sending you warm thoughts since the beginning. I’m a “Storked” reader. : ) I’ve never commented but I had to today. I am so glad that your story is gaining national attention. I know you personally don’t care a thing about it, but you deserve it. Liz deserves it. What you’re doing for other widows is amazing. How you’ve turned your tragedy into something so positive for others is absolutely wonderful. I wish none of this had happened to you, but I thank you for sharing your life with us.

I came home yesterday and turned on my DVR. I should have known better and should have had a tissue box next to me. Because I was in tears watching you guys. Matt your story is remarkable. I really don’t know how you do it. And that beautiful child of yours, she is just the happiest and cutest baby I have ever seen. Thank you for sharing your story with us. And, I bet Liz is proud and smiling at you guys.

Later in the evening, I showed the recorded segment to the two men in my life. And they think you are amazing!

[I'm sure like everyone else] when I saw Maddy on screen it was like “that’s our girl!” She was a DOLL!! You did an excellent job on RR – what a wonderful way to promote the foundation! It was such a treat to see you on the show, and so cool of you to get a boatload of Pampers!

When you talked about giving other parents advice on flying with their child, it made me smile. It wasn’t too long ago (although now many trips ago!) when you were taking your first flight, and asking everyone what to do, and you were so unsure. Look how far you have come! What an incredible father you are! You have turned a shitty situation into something so wonderful for your daughter and your family. I hope that makes you feel really good inside. Thank you a million times for sharing your story, your photos, and your little girl with all of us. What an inspiration you are!

I have been sick for a few days and haven’t checked your blog (I check it religiously everyday since last April). I DVR RR everyday – so when I turned it on yesterday and saw you and Maddy I was so elated! I had to take a double take. I just want you to know that you have made such an impact in my life! I have a 2 year old little girl, Makenzy, and even though I do most of the “care taking” for her – I can’t imagine what it would be like to do it alone. I also don’t take my husband for granted anymore – because you just never know what might happen.

You are such an amazing human being and father! Thank you so much for being an inspiration.

He didn’t know what I was doing at first and when he saw the name, he said “babe, are you watching that guy again?” :) He doesn’t know the whole story, just heard me say something about your blog once or twice. I loved seeing you on RR. Matt, you did such a wonderful job. Is it weird to be proud of someone you’ve never met, in real life? :) Maddy was such a sweetheart. Her little face is so adorable, you can’t help but love her.

    Dear Matt,
I read the article in the People’s magazine a few weeks ago, and ever since I’ve been reading your blog…the archives, looking at your photos on Flickr, and I must say that you are an incredible father/man!
In 1994, my best friend (she was only 19 years old) died from a pulmonary embolism. It was her last day of University and my last day of College…we were supposed to meet up the next day ~ that didn’t happen. She fell off the city bus cause she had a leg cramp, which turned out to be a huge blood cloth. She died the next day in the hospital. It was too late…I lost my best friend. I haven’t had a best friend since, but I do have good friends/family that keep me going. Just like you….you have Madeline, a part of you & Liz. I think it’s wonderful how you document your lives on this blog. The way it is… pretty or not, you document it.

The episode on Rachael was great! It played here in Canada on the 11th :) I still get teary-eyed when I hear your story or when I tell my friends to check out your blog. I love it so much… it’s sad, funny and adorable all at once. Your daughter is ADORABLE!!!!! She’s the cutest little thing ever (aside from my daughter hehehehehe :) )

You’re a great Dad!!!! Love reading your blog…please never stop! You’re an inspiration :)

    Asalamu Alaykom Mr. Matt,

Congrats on the Pampers! I used to think that, “bumbers” was the Arabic word for diapers, until I realized it was just them mispronouncing “Pampers”.

Really well done intro piece. I think that summed it up as well as they could have.

Has anyone complained yet that Miss Madeline was teething on a non-FDA-approved bracelet?

I’m happy that you appeared as yourself; no gussying up for you! I LIKE that yellow shirt! It’s YOU :) But, I am glad you didn’t wear that pom-pom hat in the studio (even if Michael Nesmith was my favorite Monkee).

I did catch the moment you didn’t agree with RR’s comforting. It was just a split second when the look in your eyes was saying, “Ya, that’s your take on it.”

So, Media Darlings, catch this 15 minute wave and ride it for all it’s worth! Keep doing it in the name of love and charity, and you’ll stay on top and arrive back at the beach unscathed, inshahallah. May God continue to be with you.

Think of Madeline. Think of all the people you’re helping by talking about what you’re going through. Creating this foundation. It’s amazing.
And your daughter is adorable — quite possibly The Cutest Baby Ever (trademark). And I also have two kids of my own, who also are in the running! Ha!

You are an amazing father and what a beautiful little girl. She looks just like her mama. I’ve never commented before, because I am absolutely stupid with words. I was raised by my single dad and so was my brother and sister. My mom wasn’t gone, she just didn’t give a damn about us. At least Madeline will know how much her Mom loved her and wanted her to be here…i’m 27 and still have a hard time feeling my mother’s love. She just buys it. Anyway…enough of my drama.
