You’re right–it’s not like anything really changes once you hit that one-year mark, except that you can’t say that your spouse died less than a year ago. Unfortunately there’s no magical thing that happens once you hit that first anniversary. It’s just a continuation of what you’ve been experiencing for the previous 365 days. But it does get easier…eventually. Hang in there.

2 Months ago I lost my partner, and during one of my sleepless nights of browsing, I found your webpage. It has been a source of strange comfort for me, to hear some of my own thoughts expressed by someone else.

I want to thank you for sharing all of this, and I wish I could say the magic words I’m searching for to change everything for you, for me, for anyone who’s feeling this kind of pain.

I am sorry you had to experience the one year anniversary of your wife’s death. You both were too young for this to happen.
