less than a
month away.
then what?
today maddy played with
some of the
jewelry i purchased
to replace the stuff
liz
had stolen from her
last year.
feb. 25
yes.
11 months ago.
dates are arbitrary
in the scheme
of things, but
the memories associated
with those dates
just refuse to
go away,
so they’re forever linked.
at least in
my head.
plus i have a
fucking “25″ tattoo
on my right wrist,
hard to miss
when i woke
this morning and
lifted madeline from
her playpen.
feb. 9
to
feb. 13.
we did nothing.
i went to
work, she went
to daycare.
but the nights,
the nights were
spent hanging out
together, just daughter
and father.
monday,
second day of feb.
woke up in my
bed again,
looking forward to
two days of the
mundane, then
it’s time for us
to take off again.
after work and
daycare, i set out
to make up for
the time i lost
with madeline while
i was in nashville.
for the first time
i watched as
she pulled herself
to a standing position,
using her little
pink piano for leverage.
