Just watched the segment….awesome!! And it’s always fun to see Madeline in action : )
I was holding it together pretty well throughout the video….until the end, when they made the comment of the hundreds of pictures you’ve taken of “your girls”….and then they showed the pic of Liz and Maddie together…..and the commentary about it being the best picture you’ve ever taken…..damnit! I was sure I’d heard the story enough to be able to make it without crying……but no….
Once again, you are doing an amazing job, not only with Madeline, but in keeping Liz’s memory alive and well…..if I feel like I knew Liz, just by reading the exerpts you share in cyber-world, I can’t even imagine the beautiful picture you’re painting for Maddie every day…..thank you…1

Matt, that was a great interview. You have a message to give out that has gradually taken you out of your natural shyness. And I, for one, am happy for that. So neat to see you more relaxed and I love your smile. (You look “so much like Maddy! You even have her smile!”) Remember – your beard tickles as Maddy leans in for a kiss, pats your face, and backs up to reconsider! My girls took awhile to learn to kiss Daddy for the same reason. Maybe by Father’s Day. LOL. Amazing Daddy. Awesome little toddler. And a great interview. Thanks for it all.

I thought, and still think, that Ophrah missed the whole point…half the team wasn’t on screen – so she missed the dynamics; and, she barely gave time to the other third of your life – so she didn’t allow you to present Liz or the foundation with your heartfelt love. Rachel Ray did. CBS2 did. You do. So Ophrah’s tunnel vision aced her and her audience out of a special glimpse into your amazing life. Done.

    Matt,
I was especially moved at the 2:44 mark of the segment when Madeline reached out toward the window and your pose together mimicked the photo of you and Liz on the wall. So moving. It was a wonderful segment and I agree a better job than the Oprah piece. But you were great in both. I also agree that you look happy and relaxed and that’s great to see. You deserve it for doing such a remarkable job in raising Madeline and honoring your beautiful wife.

Thanks for sharing the link-it was nice to watch. I know it is not at all how you intended it to be, but you are a wonderful family! I picture you tearing through the house picking things up before the crew got there-my house would never be TV ready!

The things you do each day are amazing….raising your little girl, dealing with the challenges of work all while being a full time daddy. Your stories are amazing and this one is another reason why.

What a good segment on the Foundation! I especially like at around 2min45sec when Madeline is reaching over your shoulder, and in the background of the wedding picture of Liz in a similar pose.

I am now BAWLING…great piece, loved hearing Maddy talk and see her interact with you! Liz is just a smilin’.
P.S. ( My nine year old son wants to know when they are going to make a “tv show of Maddy”..he loves her pictures, especially when there is video, I use it as bribery material to coax him to do his homework!)

Well, I’ve skipped classes for the last 2 days to read all of your posts. I’m guessing that my professors won’t count this as an “excused absence.” Well worth it, though, I must say.

Maddy is so fucking adorable! Keep up the good work, Daddy!

P.S. – Final exams are coming up in a few weeks, and I will definitely need something to help me procrastinate. Long posts, filled with pictures and videos, would be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance! =)

LOL! Clearly Maddy was just totally freaked out by the interview :) – That is one “out” baby girl! Great segment and love that the reporter posed with that dang robot.

Matt – have you heard of Jim Beaver? I am reading the latest issue of People and they did a book review of his new book, “Life’s That Way” and it sounded like you and he might have something in common (and strangely enough, his daughter’s name is Madeline also). It describes the book as “A Hollywood Widower’s Tale.” You are much more connected than I, so you are probably already aware of it, but if not, thought you might be interested in checking it out!

Thanks for keeping your blog updated – it is so wonderful to see pictures of you and Maddy having a good time together. I am always amazed at how cute she is! I have been reading this for more than a year now and I swear she is still cuter each time! You are still doing an AMAZING job!
