On the restlessness in restaurants...I always believed that you just need to work your way through it. If you stop taking them to restaurants when they hit that phase, they'll never get used to the sitting still. We keep my daughter in her high chair till it's absolutely unbearable (total screaming meltdown) and then pick her up and pass her around the table till we're ready to go. The time to meltdown increases a small amount with each restaurant trip. Great pictures, love the one with the child behind the gate.
