have you found yourself so distracted by my beard that you forgot to mail in your registration for the liz logelin foundation 5k?
i understand.
well, i just wanted to remind you that there’s only two days left to register.
but…
donations are great, even if they’re late, so we’ve extended the registration deadline.
simply fill out the registration form and send it to becky electronically at 5k@thelizlogelinfoundation.org and pay your registration fee by sunday, september 6th via paypal (link below).
and if for some reason you hate mailing in checks or making donations via paypal, but you still really, really want to support the foundation on the day of the 5k, our treasurer (liz’s dad) will gladly open his hands and accept your cash on behalf of the foundation. the thing is, you won’t get a t-shirt, but you will get a tax deduction.
i’m just saying.
anyway…
we hope to see you on september 19th!

(also, if you want to see my beard go bye-bye, you still have until friday, sept 4th to help us sell 100 tickets to the liz logelin foundation gala).

i heard Ed Hardy is looking for male models with big beards …you many not want to shave it off afterall
Are we close to getting that beard off? What number are they at in ticket sales?
Matt, I’m getting page not found (it no longer exists or may have been moved) when I click on the registration form link within your latest post.
@Darlinda in MN
weird…it’s working for me.
please try it again.
What are the numbers today?
Yes, weird indeed. I had tried several times before. I came back to it now and logged on again and it was fine.
I so wish I could donate, but out of work 50 somthings with 10 grandchildren equate to no money. But, if you have “creeps” in houston that need a grandma babysitter for free I could do that! Soon, I will be back on the bandwagon.
We need a ticket counter so we can see how many more tickets you need to reach your goal of 100 tickets by Friday. : )
Hey Matt, I hope you sell lots & lots of tickets or at least 100 so you can lose the beard. I have been wondering that maybe people aren’t buying because they have seen what you look like without the beard…………..remember your prom picture. O-well, but if you only sell half will you give your beard a trim at least. xoxo Stephanie
Matt, Just make sure when you do shave the beard…you know you will be…Madeline is there to watch the process. When my sister was her a bit younger that Madeline my Dad shaved his beard & she freaked because she didn’t know who he was. The next time he shaved it she was closer to 2yrs old & they had her there watching so she knew it was him…you don’t want little Miss Madeline not knowing who that clean shaven guy is.
Matt,
I read your blog all the time and have watched sweet little Maddie grow into this beautiful toddler, I love coming to your blog, I feel like it helps a lot of people so I wanted to tell you about this other blog I have come across…
http://nicupirate.blogspot.com
The girl just recently lost her husband, suddenly. Her story is so sad and I think she needs support right now from anyone. She is clearly hurting, as I’m sure you understand her pain. I don’t know her, like I said, I just came across her blog. When we lost our son, support (what little we had!) really helped us. If you or any of your readers could find it in their hearts to just say hello to this girl, it would be great! It would help her tons, I think…I hope. My heart just goes out to her, and you & Maddie too.
You are great -
Kelley

Okay–enough procrastinating! I got my registration in so I’m set. Now all I need is some walking buddies in SoCal. Who’s with me?
Matt – I’ve been “with” you since Maddy was about two months old. Before you became ‘famous’. Before you started the foundation. I’ve never commented previously. Why? Because you’re doing JUST fine on your own!
But now I must voice an opinion.
I have two daughters who are now 20 and 22. My ex husband had a beard and he would shave only once a year. Ewww… I know, I know. Anyway… the first time he came home with no beard was very traumatic for my daughters. Seriously. So I was just hoping you could perhaps include Maddy in the shaving-your-beard-off process so you don’t end up scaring the shit out of her. If it didn’t affect my girls in such a BIG way, I wouldn’t mention it. But it did. It really, really did.
good luck ! you are an awesome writer.
How’s the book coming along?
I agree with Becky, My husband scared my daughter when she was about 3 years old when he shaved his beard off and then surprised us walking into the living room, it scared the crap out of her…was scared to death of him and would not go near him for a while. It was not her daddy in her eyes. I think it would have been less traumatic if she watches you shave it off.
Oh by the way. Praying your new job as writer. You go dude!
You quit?? You see my friend, windows open when doors are closed. Truely, life is a journey to take, and you are doing a great job at fullfilling it all, even the scary parts. Best wishes, to you both.
hi matt,
this is not the right spot to comment but i saw your twitter updates and pictures (i dont have a twitter account) – whoa on the “writer” post! so awesome, can’t wait to read your book. i’ve been following you since maddy was two months old. it’s been a long journey and kudos to you for every day, you’re doing such a great job. of course i know liz only thru your photos but i have to say maddy is growing to look just like her mom! all the best for you on your forthcoming trip, and please do not forget to post how you guys are doing.
Hi!
Saw you on the Oprah show today. Cried like a baby…
Lots of thougts and love from Carina with family, Norway.
Hallo Matt.
My name is Liv-Torill and I saw your story on oprah here in Norway. I was so touched by your story.
Five months ago me and my husband had a little babyboy, born i week 28+3. There was a lot of drama, but thankfully we are all safe. I just want you to know that the story about your wonderful wife Liz has reached Norway. And we are thouched. Maddie is the cutest kid, and from the glimpse we had from your life I think you are an awesome dad.
God bless you both!
Hi Matt, i saw you on Oprah today! Yes, Sweden is a bit behind America in TV-shows, but better late then never, huh? Just wanted to inform you that you now officially have a LOT of readers in Sweden too… I plan to read through the whole blog some day (when I don’t have to rush to work!), but for the moment I just say THANK YOU for sharing your story and good luck with everything. Oh, and Maddy seems to be absolutely wonderful, but I’m sure you already know that
I am so excited for you Matt. woo hoo!! Letting go to move on! Brave, scary, right, thrilling….you name it, you feel it. I’m right there with you throughout the journey. You told Maddy she’d better be amazing … look what has happened! With more to come. I can hardly wait for the book and your deserved success. Thanks for letting me travel along with you and your amazing, precious daughter.
Matt, I just received an email from Kim Lucio in regards to your foundation gala in a few weeks. I just wanted to say how sorry am I to hear about your wife. I remember when Kim told me about it last summer. I had a hard time fighting back the tears, as that is not what Kim needed either. I am so glad that you two have each other to talk to, to help each other through. You, Maddy and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers!!
I love the pictures of Maddy on your blog. She sure is a cute little girl!
Sincerely,
Michelle
