i can’t

help but look

at you and see

everything i ever

wanted in

a child.

and i’m not just

talking about

the pretty face

(more your mom than you dad, thankfully),

or the

totally rad

outfit and bangles

that i picked out.

no.

i’m talking about

the brains.

the personality.

the disposition.

the you.

(yes, you can thank your mom for all of that stuff, too).

This photo is incredible. She looks so grounded and mature. It’s hard to believe she is just a wee thing sometimes. Also, your capacity for love is astounding.

Matt, the one really, really really important thing you’re telling Maddy over and over again is how much she is loved, how much she is cared for, how beautiful she is as a person from the inside out. This is what every child needs to hear and I’m sitting here at work quietly crying because you have made my day.

    Thank you for everything.

She is the closest thing to perfection I’ve ever witnessed. Liz is alive behind those blue eyes.

I wish there was a “love it?” option… “like it” just doesn’t seem to do this photo justice.

Matt, you are an amazing father! Madeline, you are an amazing little girl who looks so much like her mother that it is truly incredible. I love reading this blog and Matt I can’t wait to read your book someday. Wow, she really looks like Liz. I never met your wife but have seen all the pictures you post of her on this site and I can not believe how much the baby looks like her mommy.
