Women will always be a great influence on Maddy – and I am thankful she is so discerning and choosy. She is such a fair rose among them, it’s no wonder they can’t resist reaching out to her. But as petite as she is, that many hands reaching must be rather intimidating, no matter whose hands they are. I think she is rapidly adapting to her ‘new world’ (learning to be quite comfortable) and it is okay that she requires her space and distance. Good for her! That will stand her well as she grows up.
I sense she is very aware of the contrasts and really likes the people’s love and happy smiles. Besides, with her outgoing personality and charm, how can they not be in awe of her? I am! and I have not yet seen her in real life! =o)

Women will always be a strong influence on Maddy - I am thankful she is so discerning and choosy. She is such a fair rose among them - no wonder they cannot resist reaching for her. But I know from experience that when you are as petite as she, too many hands reaching are rather intimidating. All in all, she is rapidly adapting and becoming quite comfortable, isn't she? Amazing. And I sense that she is very aware of the contrast and really enjoys their love and smiles.

My Emily was like that. As an infant she would lean away from me toward most any man that walked by. As a toddler I would have to say that this uncle or that uncle (we called all male friends uncles) was not a jungle gym.

The behavior may not be caused by an absence, but a preference.

Thinking of you and Maddy always

Hi Matt,

Your adventures are so inspiring! I know people say it all the time, but I can't help but say that Maddie looks like a tiny Liz here. So beautiful and curious! Keep up the great work -- we're all so looking forward to your book.
