back at home
you throw apples.
here in your
temporary home,
you throw sticks.
mostly into the
koi pond at the
place where
i spend my
days writing.
you will have
to unlearn
this behavior when
we get back
to los angeles,
’cause i don’t have
anyone to clean
our pond like
they do at
the oberoi.
but you love it
so much,
so maybe,
just maybe
i’ll let you
continue your behavior
and i’ll clean
the pond myself.

The sentiment here is just too sweet for words.
She looks so grown up here …
that’s sweet.
Don’t fish have a natural abhorrence of sticks? (I’m just saying) ={ I hear those groans…!
sweetheart

Hi Matt, I just wanted to say that your happiness since your arrival in India seems to have increased tremendously! I started reading your blog (from the beginning) after the second showing on Oprah…I have laughed and cried but most of all marvelled at the great job you are doing with Maddy. I know you give credit for her personality to Liz, but I’m sure some of it has to do with the laid back approach you take parenting. I remember being so stressed as a mom when my kids were little that I often forgot to just enjoy them…you have truly enjoyed Maddy. I will keep reading and catch up to the present, then I will read your book
