the footsteps outside,
they sounds like heels.
six floors below,
pounding out the sound
of a woman determined.
determined to do
what, i don’t know.
but she sounds like
she’s walking away from something.
before tonight, i’d
never realized that the sound
of a woman’s shoes on
a cobblestone sidewalk
could tell me
so much.

the sound must have stirred your soul the way music does
Matt, I can’t tell you how happy I am that I discovered these “hidden” posts. Your words are haunting. They break my heart and touch my soul with hope for your future. I can almost feel Liz there with you in the light, the wind, the sounds. I’m sure you can, too.
beautiful – i just love reading your stuff….i don’t know HOW i did it, but i found your “easter egg”! i have NO idea WHAT i clicked on to get here but am SO glad i did
Beautiful! I’ve been reading your blog for years but this is the first I’m reading your poetry. May I share? I won’t unless you explicitly say I can.
