sidewalk.

the footsteps outside,

they sounds like heels.

six floors below,

pounding out the sound

of a woman determined.

determined to do

what, i don’t know.

but she sounds like

she’s walking away from something.

before tonight, i’d

never realized that the sound

of a woman’s shoes on

a cobblestone sidewalk

could tell me

so much.

Matt, I can’t tell you how happy I am that I discovered these “hidden” posts. Your words are haunting. They break my heart and touch my soul with hope for your future. I can almost feel Liz there with you in the light, the wind, the sounds. I’m sure you can, too.

Beautiful! I’ve been reading your blog for years but this is the first I’m reading your poetry. May I share? I won’t unless you explicitly say I can.
