physical reminders found
in places you wouldn’t
expect to find them.
like in the roller
under a vacuum.
there they were…
but what to do
with them?
give them up to
the wind, and
let it take
them away.

Good for you, Matt. Brave and wise.
It must be a shock each time.
That just gave me goosebumps. You’ve grown so much over the past two years.
That has to take your breath away a little each time you find a piece of her, but what a little jewel to find.
That’s why I never clean the roller. Or even vacuum.
At least, I’m going to pretend it is.
So sad. So beautiful.
so bittersweet.
Wow! Sometimes it’s the small things that pack the biggest punch.
I first read this post a few days ago but didn’t know how to respond. Your words have really stuck with me. I have a sweater of my grandpa’s who passed away 17 years ago just as I was finishing high school. It was his favourite sweater – every time I close my eyes, I see him wearing it. It still smells like him, even after all this time. Your post reminded me of this. I dug out the sweater from its special box and have been wearing it the last few days. Thank you!
A sign that she will always be with you. Even when you are moving forward, she will always be a part of you.
Sometimes it’s the little things that remind me of my grandmother, I wish it didn’t have to be this way either.
I can’t even imagine what you’re going through, Matt!
But for the way I’m feeling right now, maybe I do understand… just a bit.
As always, my love to you and Madeline.
I was wondering about putting Liz’ hair in a locket..it might be lovely for Maddy to have that later.
shit man. that’s heavy.
I have heard this is the hardest thing of it all — the unexpected, subtle reminders and tangibles. I can only imagine that a rush of deep breathing is needed in that moment …
