on wednesday, i picked
maddy up from school.
she was super excited to
show me what she’d made
for me.
i asked,
“what is it?”
“it’s a feather, daddy. no, no. it’s a knife.”
oh.
i thought it looked more
like a prison shank
than a feather.
then yesterday i
dropped her off at
school and before
i could leave she said,
“wait…i want to make you something before you leave.”
(a few seconds of cutting and scribbling later)
she presented me with this:
i asked,
“what is it?”
“daddy, i made you a $100 bill. i drew president obama on it! you can buy me toys with this!
oh. i’m starting to
worry about what they’re
teaching her at this school.
i mean, she’s
clearly pre-planning her
escape from prison
by fashioning
herself a shank,
after having gone to jail for
counterfeiting money
so i can buy her toys.
(i love this kid).

awesome. molly made me some money yesterday when we were
playing. she didn’t, however, direct me to buy her anything or
present me with a shiv.
I love her imagination!
I kind of like the pic of President Obama. Maddie and my daughter are the very same age – and the imagination is just unfathomable.
*laughing* what a great imagination this one has. I just love her.
she makes my day 
I love it! Kids and the concept of money don’t go together. When my (now 5 year old) nephew was maybe 3, he walked into Thinker Toys where he liked to play with the toy cash register, took out some paper money, then walked out (becoming a thief) and walked into Fun Factory across the way because my aunt had told him he couldn’t play there because she had no money (all lies). He now thinks he can go to the bank and get money, just like that, when asked where he thinks money comes from. Ah, kids.
You are an amazing dad and Maddy is equally amazing. I am sure Liz is looking down on both of you and is very proud!! God Bless you all!!
