Sounds like a great way to spend/celebrate an anniversary. Y’all look great!
That is awesome!
I’m pretty fucking proud of you too!
Awesome picture of the two of you!!
Liz is super proud of you both every day….you are doing a fantastic job with your little girl!! Hope you two had fun on the slopes….I need to get out and teach my little girl (a few months older than Maddy) to ski…loved skiing growing up!! Keep up the amazing work Matt….Maddy is one lucky little girl
I’m definitely proud of you guys! that’s great! and yes, Liz would be so proud, too! =D you guys look wonderful, and happy!
I think it’s awesome you remember the day you first went on a date with Liz.
And to echo an echo an earlier poster, I’m pretty fucking proud of you, too. And so happy for Maddy to be introduced to an awesome sport. You two can share this sport for the rest of your lives.
(I was introduced to skiing my sophomore year in college and just fell in love with it. I’m quite a bit older than both of my sibs, but I had the pleasure of going skiing with both of them in their earlier years. It really was a bonding experience. I went along on my sis’s first ski trip at the request of my mother, who thought my then junior-high-age sister would enjoy the local YMCA trip to the slopes, My sister was a bit shy about it but was willing to do it if I came, too; it was so cool and gave her a confidence she had been lacking. Later, my ex-hub and I went skiing a bunch with my baby bro once he graduated from college and was finally allowed to ski — his track coaches wouldn’t let him before that. Some of my very best memories with both.)
Very cool!
No doubt about it.
So great! Congratulations!!!
Matt and Maddy,
I just spent the last week starting from the very beginning and reading about the last (almost) 5 years of your life. For some reason (like I think most people) I just couldnt stop. I think I remember hearing about your story years ago on AOL somewhere but when you were featured last week I was able to get reacquainted with your little family. While I was counting down the months and years trying to catch up, I was secretly hoping I never would. At first I got really annoyed when you would blog EVERYDAY while you were home with Maddy for her first 8 months of life. It was very difficult to be motivated that I would ever actaully make it through years 2008 and 2009 with my vision still intact. But for the last 2ish years it is obvious that this blog has taken a second seat for other things in your life (as I guess it should), like a Maddy.
Not really sure why I decided to comment. Other than to let you know that you now have one more faithful “creeper” and that you obviously have a very beautiful daughter and are such an amazing father (other than our differing political views
). I just felt like after reading your blog for the past week straight, even at work (shhh), I needed/wanted to make some connection to you and Maddy. Maybe someday I’ll make it to a LLF event!
Thanks for letting me ramble on. Please never stop blogging.
I’m serious.
Saw this picture of a fortune telling robot and thought of your Robot,

Matt, just started reading, well almost finished now, reading your book. I have cried from chapter 2. I can only hope to find a once in a lifetime love l ike you had. Maddy is beyond lucky to have a dad like you. I am a single mom who has travelled with my daughter and tried to show her places and experiences that would help make her a better person. I think you are doing an incredible job. Again, she is beyond lucky to have you!!!
From a canadian skier to a californian apprentice skier: you should be wearing a helmet too. For her….
I hope you had better luck at skiing than I did. Apparently I am not meant to ski. My kids picked it up quickly though…….
How awesome!!!! You truly are an amazing father in every sense of the word! This world would be a much better place with more people like you.
Yup…..she’s fucking proud!!
xo
No idea how I stumbled on this but I have one word…cute!
Maddy is lucky to be loved by such a great man.
Great blog about BIG love.
