madeline woke up
at 4:30.
she was hungry.
loving this new routine.
fed her then both
of us went back
to sleep.

little bit, waited
for our housekeeper
to arrive then
picked up
creepy nancy for breakfast.
went to the
breakfast place
with the cupcakes
in the eagle rock.
had a nice breakfast
in the shade of the awnings

doctor’s office in 7 minutes.
walked into the
waiting room, checked
in and got a laugh
from the guy
at the desk.
he said,
“you made it here pretty fast.”
i told him,
“i live nearby”
still laughing, he said,
“you sounded pretty excited on the phone”

sniffling baby,
snot running out of her
nose and down
her chin.
first time i’ve seen
this coming from her.
grabbed her out
of the crib and cleaned her up.
seems that madeline
is either sick or exhibiting
some more signs of teething.
either way, she’s still
smiling so things
can’t be too bad.
handed her off to
