this sunday october 2nd, 2011, i’ll be speaking on a panel at the west hollywood book fair. the fair is going to be beyond awesome and you should definitely try to stop by and say hello if you’re in the area.
here’s some information about the panel i’m on:
WHO I AM: MEMORIES THAT BECOME MEMOIRS
(11:45am-12:45pm)
Dan Fante
Emma Forrest
Matt Logelin
Amy Ephron
Barbara DeMarco-Barrett (Mod.)
Signing Afterwards at the Mysterious Galaxy booth
(ed. note…dan fante is the son of one of my all-time favorite writers, john fante, and a pretty great writer himself. the rest of the authors on the panel are also amazing, so a “holy shit i can’t believe i’m on this panel” note is definitely appropriate here).
please come out and say hello.
click here for all the information you’ll need to plan your day, including the full schedule of events, maps & more.
admission and parking are free!
finally, here’s an awesome trailer for the event:

next thursday october 6th, 2011 at 7:00pm, i’ll be reading at third place books at 17171 bothell way north east, lake forest park, washington 98155
people tell me that’s near seattle, so if you’re in the area, come out and see me (just an fyi, i’ve been known to take people out for drinks afterwards so even if you didn’t like my book, you really should come if you like booze).
oh. i haven’t given anything away in awhile, so leave a comment, any comment, i’ll choose someone at random and send them a signed copy of my book, along with a couple of surprises.
thanks, as always, for your support.
in the car
on the way to
school today,
i heard a little
whine from the backseat…
“daddy! my finger hurts!”
we were at a
stoplight, so i turned
to her and asked,
“which one?”
“this one!” she
yelled back at me.
i started laughing immediately.
“don’t laugh, daddy!”
i tried to compose
myself as i reached
for my phone,
the whole time saying,
“which one? which one?”
hoping that she’d keep
it up long enough
for me to photograph.
she cooperated, and
i was lucky enough
to preserve this
special moment
for her future.
you’re welcome, madeline.
…
and of course,
as soon as
she got to school,
she had to show
all of her friends
her new band-aid.
a couple of weekends
ago maddy, brooke and i
headed north to visit
our friends
mark, jeffra and
mckenna in fresno.
frightened by the prospect
of our longest drive
yet with a
potty-trained child,
i took all of
the necessary precautions.
